3.Techniques Applied

I think the final project is a task that tests comprehensive abilities. In this task, I used the techniques from the previous three assignments.
The final task confirmed that I’ve fully mastered the basic skills of Adobe Illustrator drawing, and it helped me connect the knowledge I’d learned before about topics like color and composition.

In the lectures during the first two weeks, the professor explained the details of the final project—its content and requirements—and showed us examples of previous works.

Week 13: In this week’s lecture, the professor explained Premiere Pro’s features and how to use it in detail. They also demonstrated how to use Pr to combine audio and storyboard animations into a sound animation with subtitles.

Additional techniques that I researched on my own:

While making the video, I imported three audio clips related to the script. But afterward, I noticed the speed of these audio clips was a bit fast. To make them blend better with the animation, I tried using Premiere Pro to slow down the audio. However, I quickly realized that simply changing the audio speed would also alter the tone. So I looked up techniques on Rednote for slowing down audio without changing its tone.

  • Right-click the audio clip → Speed/Duration → Change the speed percentage → Window → Effect → Audio Effects → Time and Pitch → Pitch Shifter → Drag it onto the clip → Effect Controls → Find the Pitch Shifter you just dragged onto the clip → Click "Edit" → Check "Use corresponding default settings" → Adjust the "Ratio" (use 1 divided by the speed percentage you just set)

4. Self Reflection

My favorite part is drawing the draft. When sketching the storyboard drafts, I realized that the connection and coordination between each shot are a key prerequisite for the story to flow logically—that’s one of the things I learned from this task.

A small downside is that I should have thought about the animation production while drawing the drafts, planning ahead for the elements that would be turned into animation. But in the end, I followed the professor’s advice and chose to move all the images, so this shortcoming didn’t affect my final work at all. I think the final project is a task that tests comprehensive abilities. It confirmed that I’ve fully mastered the basic skills of AI drawing, and it helped me tie together the knowledge I’d learned before about topics like color and composition.
