Additional techniques that I researched on my own:
The result of the search was that one could try using the scissors tool to split the path into two segments, and then use the selection tool or shape builder tool as appropriate to remove the excess lines.
4. Self Reflection
My favorite part of this task was digitizing my sketches using Adobe Illustrator. In previous tasks, my sketches were relatively simple, so I had plenty of time to create clearer, more detailed drafts. That meant during the digitization process, I just needed to trace the same lines as the original sketch in AI. But with this task, my sketch was more complex than before, with far more lines and elements. This made the sketch I used for digitization less detailed and specific, which actually gave me more creative freedom while working on the digital piece. Whenever I got new ideas, I could adjust the positions of shapes and lines anytime, making the final work better than the original sketch. I think that’s a form of progress too.
Looking at the work I submitted, I believe the animation aspect has the most room for improvement. I feel the animation I created for this task isn’t lively enough and comes across as a bit simple and monotonous. Because I forgot to separate the elements that needed animation into different layers while digitizing the artwork, I found most elements couldn’t be moved when I started animating. So I had to go back and adjust my digital work in Illustrator, then only animate some of the simpler elements in the piece.
